Presentations, practices, and discussions related to Minzoku (folk) Neo-Shinto and Jinja (shrine) Shinto.
Minzoku Neo-Shinto is a universalist approach to an existential Japanese folk religion.
Open to anyone who's sincerely interested, it's not just for people of Japanese ancestory. Existential means it's based on personal experience, not on scripture or dogma. Folk religion means it's a religion as practiced by the commons - the everyday people - and on a local basis; it's not a religion as taught in the seminaries, universities, or on a national or international basis.
Moderated by Volkhvy: Shi-Yaku-Jin no Hokora no kannushi.
Little Hokora on the Prairie is presented by Shi-Yaku-Jin no Hokora is a sister shrine to the Sacred Cedar Shrine. Ciaran, the priest of Sacred Cedar Shrine assists with the presentations and performs the Jinja components.
This event reoccurs the first Friday of each month at the same time and place.

We are delighted to have a permanent memorial shrine now at Sacred Paths Center. This beautiful, hand-crafted, Shinto-inspired altar now graces our Great Room, and stands as a place where we can publicly honor the names of those who have passed onfrom our community. Many thanks to everyone who has helped make this a reality. But, mostly thank you to Volkhvy of Shi-Yaku-Jin no Hokora for his loving care and artistic eye in the designing and building of this memorial.
On May 15, 2010, a dedication ceremony was held for our new altar. Clarke Stone served as Master of Ceremonies. We dedicated the altar, lit incense and candles and called out the names of our beloved dead. The ceremony will be repeated each May and is called “Stones and Bones”. We hope you have an opportunity to stop by to admire and remember those who have passed through the veil before us.
Please join us on Saturday, May 14th as we rededicate the altar and remember our beloved dead. We will gather at 6p and begin the ceremony at 7p. Bring items for the altar if you wish.
The Sacred Paths Center has more information about the ceremony.
